πŸ“’ Shortlist for the Ashden Award Announced

Date: 03/05/2023

NextEnergy Foundation (“NEF”) has partnered with Ashden to promote clean energy solutions in humanitarian settings through the Power to Refugees and Displaced People programme. The programme has three aims: (1) catalyse solutions; (2) grow impact by scaling established solutions; and, (3) shift policy. More information about the programme and its aims can be found on the project page.

To catalyse solutions and seed new enterprises (aim 1), NextEnergy Foundation is funding the 2023 Energising Refugees and Displaced People Award winner. The Foundation is the sole funder of the winning business. Ashden is running the Award in collaboration with the Global Refugee-Led Network, and the shortlist for the Award has been revealed: https://bit.ly/3LeVkUN.

Abid Kazim, one of NEF’s Trustees, is sitting on the judging panels and will have a vote to determine this year’s winner. In order to ensure that the judging panel is as diverse and representative as possible, refugee and non-sector expert views will be brought by the Global Refugee-Led Network. The first judging round takes place on 17th May; the second is on 19th July and the winner will be announced at the Award Ceremony in November.
