Empower Malawi: Project Update

Date: 12/06/2023

Earlier this year, NextEnergy Foundation renewed its commitment to supporting Empower Malawi to bring more first-time energy access to Malawians in the Nkhata Bay District.

The Foundation is funding the installation of an additional six systems on 78 schools this year, and the completion of installations on all 22 health care centres in the District. In order better coordinate the installations; monitor of the impact of energy access on school attendance and educational performance; and, conduct research and development on other solar energy-enabled innovations, more local support is necessary. As such, NextEnergy Foundation has also granted Empower Malawi the funds to hire employees.

Empower Malawi has put together a local team which it believes has the right skill set, experience and drive to continue to further drive the organisation’s impact. Please visit the Empower Malawi page for more details about the team, as well as the impact of our partnership to date.
