Ukraine-Russia Conflict Response: Meal Distribution with The Akshaya Patra Foundation

Date: 13/05/2022

NextEnergy Foundation has funded three initiatives thus far to respond to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. One is with the Akshaya Patra Foundation (“TAPF”) and it involved supporting the preparation and distribution of hot, vegetarian meals for people crossing the border between Poland and Ukraine.

NEF’s contribution has allowed TAPF and its local partner, Food For All, to prepare and distribute 18,000 meals.

Since March 2022, TAPF has sent 5.8 tonnes of food to the makeshift kitchen set up by Food For All at Medkya, a village in Przemysl County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, South-East Poland. In addition to sending food and ingredients, TAPF despatched its own team as part of a convoy to Western Poland on April 8th, taking another two tonnes of food and ingredients to be utilised in Wrocław, where many more displaced people were arriving.

One of TAPF’s volunteers has written a blog post about his time in Poland which you can read here – it includes pictures and videos of the work being undertaken. For more information about how the NextEnergy Foundation is responding to the conflict, please visit the overall project page.
