Frutti dell'Albero

Location: Italy

Cooperativa I Frutti dell’Albero has provided services and organised activities for children with cognitive disabilities and autism spectrum disorders through a Laboratory in Macedonia, Italy since 2011.

In 2018, I Frutti dell’Albero began constructing a Day Care Centre in Fossanova San Marco, Italy; the Centre offers all the necessary aids for communication in addition to programmes and tools for the children’s autonomy so that they can interact effectively with professional educators and with each other. It is open on weekdays and is renowned for the psycho-educational services it runs.

NextEnergy Foundation is installing a 10kWp rooftop solar system on the Day Care Centre. The system will cover the Centre’s energy needs, avoiding over 150 tonnes CO2e emissions over its lifetime and making the Centre fully sustainable.

An update will be provided on the installation in due course. Thank you very much to Gianluca Boccanera and Fausto Pappalardo from NextEnergy Group for developing the project with a solar installer and overseeing the collaboration with I Frutti dell’Albero.

At the end of March 2024 the installation of the rooftop solar system has been completed. Frutti dell’Albero Day Care Centre has become more sustainable in terms of energy efficiency and reduced consumption.

October 2024 Update – The PV system has been operating efficiently since July, generating 4-6 MWh of clean energy. This system is a valuable asset for both the Day Centre and the local community. An electronic controller will be installed to optimize energy usage. I Frutti dell’Albero will provide updates on the positive environmental and social impacts of this installation by mid-2025.
